Day 1- Saturday
Arrive in Petersburg! Petersburg is a small and quaint town in Southeast Alaska. Petersburg is “real Alaska”. You won’t find any huge cruise ships in Petersburg, and you’ll enjoy walking around and taking in the smells, sights, and sounds of an Alaskan fishing community. Your first night will be at the Scandia House hotel in downtown Petersburg. There are lots of great shops, and walks, to explore!
DAY 2- Sunday
Wake up and have a great breakfast in Petersburg. At 10am your Crew will meet you and take you down to Hopscotch! After a short safety briefing and Hopscotch orientation we will depart Petersburg and head off on our adventure to Juneau! Today will certainly be epic as we travel SE towards to the farthest south tide Water Glacier in North America: Leconte! We will spend the day in the Glacier Arm navigating our way through ice and epic scenery.
DAY 3- Monday
Wake up and have a great breakfast in in Ideal Cove. We will depart the cove and head off on our adventure to Juneau! We will head NW in Fredrick Sound towards Cape Fanshaw where we will anchor the night.
Day 4 - Tuesday
Today we sail through the heart of Fredrick Sound, and one of the most amazing Humpback Whale areas on earth! We’ll head SW towards southern tip of Admiralty Island (The Fortress of the Bear) and into Chatham Straight. Our destination for tonight is Warm Springs Bay on Baranof Island. Warm Springs is one of Southeast Alaska’s Magical destinations. There are natural hotsprings cascading down next to a massive waterfall. We’ll have all afternoon and part of the next day to explore this amazing spot and soak in the tubs and hotsprings.
DAY 5- Wednesday
Today we sail North! We usually have amazing wind and great views as we cruise past islands and rocky shores! We will anchor tonight in one of several bays perfect for paddling and beach strolling. Today is your day to take in all that Wild Alaska has to offer!
DAY 6 - Thursday
Our Journey continues North as we wind past Baranof and Chicagof island. Tonight’s stop will be one of the most spectacular places to see coastal brown bears in Alaska, Pavlof Harbor! We’ll dinghy/kayak up the short tidal stream where we will be up close and personal with brown bears feasting on the salmon run!
DAY 7 - Friday
After a morning with the bears, we will continue north towards Icy Straight! If we are lucky we’ll encounter humpbacks group feeding along the shore! We typically have great sailing wind as we get to the north end of Chatham Straight and round the North end of Admiralty Island where we will spend the night in beautiful Barlow Cove.
DAY 8 -Saturday
Today we arrive in Auke Bay by early afternoon, where Capt Brendan will get you downtown to the Baranof Hotel. There is so much to do and see in Juneau,a nd Brendan is happy to point you in the right direction!
DAY 9 -Sunday
Today is your day to enjoy Juneau and all it has to offer. From great food, to amazing hikes, and numerous shore excursions, Juneau has it all!
A few notes about Alaska
Southeast Alaska is one of the last best places. It is wild, and empty and rugged. You’ll be traveling aboard Hopscotch into some of the most beautiful and remote places in North America. Our trips in general we will be traveling (Sailing or motoring) for between 6 and 8 hours each day through some of the most beautiful wilderness anywhere. But keep in mind that these can be “long days” on the water. With the long daylight hours there is still plenty of time for exploring anchorages by kayak, sup, and foot. It’s important to note that when on shore, you’ll be accompanied by Brendan. The wilderness is very real in Alaska, and hikes/walks/beach strolls all require us to be very Bear Aware!
Once you step on board you'll have everything you need, and then some! Our charters are "All inclusive"...food, beverages (non alcoholic) gear, even some really good jokes from the Captain! Your trip includes 5 nights on-board Hopscotch, and two at a Juneau (Beginning and End of trip) Hotel. Prices listed below do not include: items you purchase in port, crew gratuities, and any hard alcohol/wine/beer you wish to bring on-board with you.
In the charter industry, a 15-20% Crew Gratuity is customary for excellent service. If service is less than excellent we ask that you speak with us (it hasn’t happened yet!).
