A note about our adventures

Once you step on board you'll have everything you need, and then some! Our charters are "All Inclusive"...food, drinks (Non Alcoholic), gear, even some really good jokes from the Captain! Our Alaska Adventures includes all logistics and fees associated with visiting the Tongass National Forest. Your trip also includes 5-7 nights on-board Hopscotch. Prices listed below do not include: crew gratuities, and any alcohol you wish to bring on-board with you.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR EXACT ITINERARY AND STOPS (ANCHORAGES) ARE SUBJECT TO PERMITS ISSUED FOR USE IN THE TONGASS NATIONAL FOREST, AND THE STATE OF ALASKA PARKS DEPARTMENT. DUE TO HIGH DEMAND, AND THE DESIRE TO KEEP ALASKA WILD (AND EMPTY), PERMITS ARE ISSUED ON A CASE BY CASE (AND LOCATION) BASIS. YOUR SPECIFIC TRIP MAY NOT FOLLOW THE EXACT ITINERARY listed, BUT WILL BE JUST AS SPECTACULAR EITHER WAY!



A couple of very important notes before you book!

PLEASE READ THIS TO MAKE SURE AN ADVENTURE ON HOPSCOTCH IS RIGHT FOR YOU!

1) WE CAN’T WAIT TO HAVE YOU JOIN US FOR AN ADVENTURE!

2) WE’LL BE TRAVELING IN A RUGGED AND BEAUTIFUL PLACE. CELL SIGNAL AND OTHER AMENITIES ARE NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

3) HOPSCOTCH IS AN OCEAN-GOING SAILBOAT. SHE IS LARGE AND COMFORTABLE, BUT STILL A SAILING SHIP, WHICH MEANS EVERYTHING IS A COMPROMISE. YOU NEED TO BE COMFORTABLE IN SMALL SPACES, AND CLOSE PROXIMITY TO OTHER GUESTS.

4) YOU NEED TO BE STRONG AND AGILE ENOUGH TO STEP UP AND DOWN STEEP STEPS WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THERE ARE WEIRD AND AWKWARD SURFACES ON A SAILBOAT. HOPSCOTCH IS NOT A CRUISE SHIP. MOVING ABOUT A SAILBOAT REQUIRES SOME STRENGTH AND BALANCE.

5) THE CREW OF HOPSCOTCH NOT ONLY WORKS ON BOARD, BUT IT IS OUR HOME AS WELL. WE SPEND OUR LIVES SHOWING PEOPLE AMAZING THINGS AND INCREDIBLE PLACES. WE ARE HERE TO GIVE YOU AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE AND A SAFE ONE. YOU WILL GET OUT OF THIS ADVENTURE EXACTLY WHAT YOU PUT INTO IT, SO WE ENCOURAGE ADVENTUROUS ATTITUDES AND FLEXIBILITY! OUR ROUTE, ANCHORAGES, AND SCHEDULE MAY (AND OFTEN DOES) CHANGE DEPENDING ON WEATHER, AND WILDLIFE!

6) HOPSCOTCH HAS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR XENOPHOBIA, RACISM, SEXISM, HOMOPHOBIA, AND BIGOTRY. WE WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE A GREAT TRIP, AND FEEL COMFORTABLE TO BE THEMSELVES ON BOARD (and around other guests/Crew).

7) WE LOVE MEETING OUR NEW GUESTS, BUT PLEASE REMEMBER: WE WILL LIKELY BE VERY BUSY WITH LAST MINUTE PREPARATIONS FOR YOUR ADVENTURE WITH US.

SO… IF YOU SHOW UP EARLY TO YOUR STARTING LOCATION, FEEL FREE TO COME DOWN AND SAY HI, BUT UNFORTUNATELY WE WON’T BE ABLE TO TAKE LUGGAGE, OR OTHER ITEMS ON BOARD UNTIL WE MEET FOR YOUR Adventure at the listed Time.

We Also Politely ask that on the last morning of your charter you are ready to “check out” and disembark at 10am. We have short “Turn Arounds” and the crew needs the time to RE-PROVISION, clean, and recharge!

A note about payment

Adventures on board Hopscotch have been described by more than one guest as:

"The best vacation I have even had!"

Because we only offer a limited number of Charters every season, and we fill up early, we cannot "Confirm" your booking until you have made a deposit (50% of the cost of the Charter).

Here are a few things to know about booking your Hopscotch Adventure: 

  • In order to secure and confirm your Charter, we require that you make a 50% deposit (of the price of your Charter) upon Booking.

  • Once you "Step on board" Hopscotch your experience is "All Inclusive". This means that we have you covered on Food, Drinks, and Gear (kayaks, boards, etc).

  • You are responsible for: Transportation to and from Hopscotch (Unless otherewise stated in your itenerary)

  • In the Charter industry, if service was excellent, it is customary to leave a %15-20 Gratuity on the total cost of the Charter. If service was less than excellent, we ask that you speak with us about it.

BOOKING AND CANCELLATION POLICY

To our valued Guests:

The Booking and Cancelation Policy outlined below is not as “forgiving” as some policies you may find at a Hotel or other Travel Company. This is because what we do is very different. We offer a small number of adventures every season, and often our guests have booked and planned their adventure with us several years ahead of time. Due to the nature of us being a very small business, offering incredibly remote and amazing adventures, and having substantial front loaded costs, we cannot offer the same refund and cancelation policy that most have come to expect while traveling. Our policy outlined below is not just for our continued ability to offer magical experiences for our guests, but also to offer them at an affordable price. We cannot stress enough the importance of investing in Travel Insurance for your piece of mind. Emergencies happen and we want you to be covered if you have to cancel last minute.

  • To secure and confirm your Charter, we require that you make a 50% deposit (of the price of your Charter) upon Booking.

    • For Charters booked after Oct 1st 2020, 25% of your Charter Fee is non-refundable. If it is a possibility that you may have to cancel your trip last minute, we STRONGLY Suggest purchasing Travel insurance. We actually REQUIRE you to purchase travel insurance for your trip.

  • Your remaining balance (50%) is due 90 days prior to your Charter start date. Up until 90 days before your charter you may cancel your Charter for a refund of 50% of your deposit (25% of your total charter)

  • Between 90-30 days you can cancel your trip and we will refund 50% of your charter fee if we are able to fill the Charter with another group.

  • If you cancel a charter is within 30 days of the start of your charter we will not be able to refund any amount. However we will work with you to re-book your trip for a later date/season.

  • Due to credit card processing fees, if we need to refund your deposit amounts paid with credit card, we will not be able to refund you the 1.5-2.5% Card fee charged on our end.

IT IS OUR GOAL AND EXPECTATION TO GIVE YOU A TRIP OF A LIFETIME. EMERGENCIES HAPPEN, AND SCHEDULES CHANGE. WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO COME UP WITH THE BEST OUTCOME POSSIBLE. This may mean postponing your trip to a later date that fits your schedule better.
