Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need Sailing Experience?
Bareboat Charterers need good sailing experience and will send in a resume detailing that experience. Our checkout team will go out with you for some docking experience during the checkout procedure. Crewed Vacation guests need no experience, just a sense of adventure!

Will I get seasick?
We sail in inland waters so we don’t have the sea swells that cause most seasickness. Some guests come with a patch and wear it for several days. Once used they find it is not necessary to re-apply.

How often do we get off the boat?
There is so much to explore on every island that we find ourselves hiking/walking, exploring historic sites, shopping in quaint villages and enjoying lovely resorts. No, we are never stuck on the boat unless we are underway!

What Do I Bring?
In addition to personal items you will want layered clothing with a fleece and waterproof jacket. Additional items are hats, gloves, two pair non-marking shoes, camera, and medicines. All linens, towels, and bedding are provided.

Can we charge our phones and cameras?
Yes, there are 120 volt plugins in each stateroom and a 12 volt charger for that use. They can be used at all times.

Can I use my hair dryer?
Yes, we have a 2000 watt inverter so hair dryers can be used anytime.

Is there heat on the boat?
Yes, we have heat available if needed. We find that during the summer months it is not needed.

What kind of suitcases can we bring?
We can accommodate most kinds of suitcases. Soft sided with wheels, dufflel bags, etc. We have forward storage for empty suitcases. There is plenty of storage in each stateroom for your belongings.

Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, most folks enjoy a glass of wine or an afternoon beer. We usually have diet Pepsi and Pepsi available.

Do you have drinking water?
Yes, we have a good supply of bottled water. We also have highly filtered cold water at the galley sink available to drink.

Do you allow smoking?
We are a non-smoking, no drugs allowed boat. There is ample time ashore to smoke if needed.

Are there showers on board?
Each stateroom has its own toilet, sink and shower. The shower is part of the head so when you shower the room gets wet. It has a sump pump for evacuating the standing water. The walls can be wiped down after showering. Some guests prefer to shower at dockside facilities. The shore side showers take quarters (up to 6 for five minutes). Change is available at each shore side facility. If you choose to shower ashore, we will be in port every other day. Water on the boat heats by two methods. One by shore side plug in, and also by the engine while underway.

Toilet use:
We have two holding tanks on board and they are shared with two stateroom heads. It is amazing how quickly they fill up so we limit the use to organic material only. We pump out at each shore side facility. You will be given specific instructions about toilet use after boarding.

Do you take families with kids?
Children over three are welcome. They enjoy the beaches and swimming in the pools at the resorts, fishing and crabbing.

When should I book the charter?
We recommend that you book as soon as you know your preferred dates. July and August are very busy months and we book up fast.

When should we arrive?
Crewed vacation guests board at 2pm
ASA class students board at 1:30pm.

What about tipping the captains?
Although tipping is not required, some charterers have had such a great time they want to tip the captains. 10% is customary in the business.

Will we be able to see the Orca whales?
If the whales are in the area we will certainly see them and what an awesome sight it is! In addition to the whales we see eagles, seals and Dahl porpoise.
