Wow! What a great time we had with you exploring the San Juan Islands. We always wanted to explore the islands and choosing to go with you on your beautiful boat made the trip just awesome. You guys are so much fun to be with and your food was truly wonderful. Thanks for your attention to all the details and making our vacation a trip we will always think back on. Hope to see you in Florida!

Dear Judy and Griff,
Thank you both so much for the absolutely great time we had sailing on Hopscotch and being with you guys! I've been trying hard, but I cannot think of a better vacation we've ever had. Everything was perfect - the company, the weather, the food, the cocktails! See you in DC next fall, we hope!

Judy and Griff,
We had the best time! Our week-long family trip in the San Juan islands was wonderful! Our captains Judy and Griff, their dog Lilly, and our family of six sailed on Hopscotch, a well laid out, clean, and well maintained sail boat. Both Judy and Griff cooked for us, and our meals were delicious. The kitchen was stocked with lots of fresh fruit and snacks, and there was always an appetizer and dessert. We especially enjoyed the fresh peach pancakes!
Our group spent a lot of time sailing the boat, and our captains were very patient with us as we learned the ropes. The stops each day were well planned and varied between less populated islands with hiking and rocky beaches, and Roche and Friday Harbors on San Juan Island--both cute, little towns to hang out in. We'd definitely sail with Judy and Griff again, and would highly recommend Sail Northwest to anyone.

Relax in the exhilarating environment of the San Juan Islands aboard Hopscotch, our beautiful 50' Beneteau sailboat.
Each day brings a new experience. You may choose to hike/walk, kayak, crab, fish, shop, read, or just stay on board and unwind. You are welcome to help pilot the boat and learn as much as you want to about sailing. Judy, your chef and co-captain, is an American Sailing Assoc. certified instructor and she is only too happy to share her knowledge of sailing with you.
Enjoy 5 nights, 6 days, $2800 per state room (2 persons)
We usually board Hopscotch on Monday but we can work the time and days to meet your schedule
Board Hopscotch in Bellingham First Day 2PM
Let us pamper you as you embark on a wonderful vacation that starts in Bellingham at 2pm on Tuesday. There are some varieties to our itinerary as we take you to many of our favorite spots throughout the San Juan Islands.
As we leave Bellingham Bay we will head up Hale Passage to make Sucia Island our first night. Sucia is a beautiful marine park with lots of hiking and beach combing and lovely little coves for anchoring. After dropping anchor get ready for a great dinner!
Second Day After leaving Sucia Island we will be on the lookout for Dahl Porpoise and saying goodbye to beautiful Mt. Baker for a while. We usually have some good wind for a great sail to Roche Harbor, which is our next destination.
The quaint resort with its beautiful gardens, chapel, and the Hotel de Haro where Teddy Roosevelt stayed will charm you. Homemade donuts are a very special treat at the cafe. Enjoy one with your latte at the coffee stand. After enjoying Roche we will motor through Mosquito Pass to Garrison Bay, where we will find British Camp, home of the Pig War and a great story to share. If oysters are a favorite we can get fresh ones at Westcott Bay for a nice appetizer.
Third Day After leaving Garrison bay we will continue out through Mosquito Pass to look for the whales. Many times we have found whales as we head north to Judy's favorite place, Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island. It may be the photo opportunity you have been waiting for. There are great hikes on Stuart Island. The favorites are the hike to the one room schoolhouse and to Turn Point Lighthouse. It is fun to explore the history of this wonderful island.
Fourth Day Friday Harbor and shopping! It's time get off the boat for some great souvenir shopping, visit the whale museum, rent a bike or a moped or just watch the ferries come and go. This is your night to eat at one of the delicious restaurants in town while the crew takes a break and does some re-provisioning.
Fifth Day Time to say goodbye to Friday Harbor and head to anchorage for our last night. Depending on the weather we will either stay at Rosario, a beautiful resort with lots of fun history, or cross the straights to anchor in a cove for our last night. As of 2009 Rosario has been sold and is not open to the public at this time. When it reopens Rosario will be one of our options.
Sixth Day Time to disembark after a super time of enjoying the islands, meeting new friends, eating like a king, and making great memories. Relax and enjoy your cruise back to the dock in Bellingham. It is hard to say goodbye but perhaps we will meet up again next year.
Both Captain Griff and Captain Judy are superb cooks. After your charter is booked you will be asked your dietary requirements and any special requests you may have.
Breakfast always starts with fresh ground coffee, tea, and
juice. It is followed by some of the following foods: pancakes with fresh berries
Snoqualmie Falls Lodge famous oatmeal
Scones, muffins or pastries
Eggs your style
For lunch you will find some of the following: Oriental chicken salad and artesian bread, BBQ burgers with potato salad,
Crab cakes and garden salad, Clam chowder with artesian bread, french dip sandwiches, pasta salad,
BLT's or grilled cheese w/ tomatoes, coleslaw
Dinners are served with salads and artesian breads along with either BBQ salmon, Chicken, beef, or shis-ka-bobs, fresh caught crab and Caesar salad, or BBQ ribeye steaks.
You will find private cabins each with their own heads, luxurious linens and cozy comforters. The crew has private quarters and bath. The main saloon is large with lots of room for sharing great cuisine and playing a game or two. The galley is set up with lots of room for preparing great meals on the corian counter tops. The cockpit is large with table, a dodger to keep out the wind, and a bimini to protect you from the hot sun.
What a trip! It was more than we could imagine. The San Juan Islands were truly awesome. The food was fantastic! It was relaxing and fun and our favorite time was catching the crabs and then eating them! Yum! Thanks to you, Judy and Griff, for a truly wonderful vacation.

We thought a trip through the San Juans on a sailboat would be fun. Little did we know what was in store for us. Sailing, crabbing, eating great food, and being pampered for the week was more that we could anticipate. The Orca whales swimming about the boat was such an awesome surprise. Thanks for making our vacation! What memories we will enjoy for a lifetime.

We can't believe the week is over! We want to keep going! Maybe next year we can go to Desolation Sound for two weeks! Wow, sailing, the scenery, the whales, the eagles, the seals, the food, the crew, was more than we could have hoped for. We loved Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor and look forward to going back someday. Thanks for a super time!
